RUNNING COACH SERVICES

HEY THERE!

Thanks for checking out my coaching web site. I thought I'd introduce myself and my coaching philosophy - if you like what you read, please take a look at the services I offer. (And if you don't like what you read, thanks for at least stopping by - happy running!)

Most runners - especially marathoners - have probably seen this Noel Carroll quotation before. It's one of my all-time favor-
ites because it summarizes how I feel about running mara-
thons. (I've completed 51 full marathons and countless other running events and triathlons up to the half-Ironman distance.) Let's face it, if you actually stop and think rationally about run-
ning 26.2 miles for FUN it makes no sense at all. But Carroll is right: we run marathons because of our passion for them.

Of course, it's not just marathoners who have this passion. Runners at any distance know it's our passion that gets us out of bed and on the street on those cold & snowy or hot & humid mornings. It's our passion that drives us to finish that last repeat when our mind screams "STOP!" It's our passion that scans our finish time on the results page and thinks, "I know I can knock off another few seconds per mile next race."

And it's that passion that inspired me to become a certified personal trainer and running coach. Not only did I want to improve my own training and racing experience, I wanted to help runners of all abilities and distances to improve theirs.

In terms of my coaching philosophy, it's pretty simple:  "to design safe and effective training programs that help my clients train smarter, achieve their individual running goals, and promote overall health and wellness - especially in the area of injury prevention."  Sound like something you might be interested in? If so, please check out the rest of the site and contact me if you have any questions.

I look forward to hearing from you. And if you give me the honor of becoming your coach, I will look forward to combining your passion for running with my passion for coaching. Together, I know we can achieve great things!

David D. Knapp, Ph.D.

If people relied solely on reason, they would not run marathons. But we are not creatures of reason - we are creatures of passion. We need reason, of course, to steer the ship. But if the winds of passion are not in our sails, all the steering in the world would get us nowhere.
